Discipline Responsible Maintenance

The Discipline Responsible Maintenance is accountable for ensuring the integrity, reliability, and availability of equipment. The role provides expert guidance in maintenance strategies, supports safe and cost-effective operations, and ensures compliance with company standards, industry regulations, and HSE requirements. Working closely with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams, the position drives continuous improvement, develops discipline-specific procedures, and ensures effective execution of preventive and corrective maintenance activities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Discipline Responsible within Odfjell Technology’s Maintenance Management, accountable for developing, implementing, and continuously optimizing maintenance strategies based on criticality and risk..
  • Provide day-to-day maintenance advisory /support and perform ad-hoc relevant work tasks (i.e. support in resolving maintenance queries, input to MOC, etc.) in accordance with Odfjell Technology,
  • Establish and maintain Maintenance Management Systems in alignment with international standards, company policies, and area operational requirements (e.g., NORSOK Z-008 for Norway)
  • Colaborate and integrate input from other disciplines (e.g., drilling, electrical, marine, etc.) in the maintenance planning process.
  • Implement optimization processes to improve cost-effectiveness and efficiency of maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with safety and risk management disciplines to ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
  • Evaluate established KPIs and give input to improve maintenance effectiveness.
  • Perform audits, verifications/coaching onshore and offshore on maintenance management issues and assist operational management to solve NPT situations.
  • Provide discipline competence to maintenance plans, long term plans and improvement initiatives for Odfjell Technology installations on upgrades, class activities and modifications. Involvement in technical change projects through technical clarifications and communicate need for additional resources.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications:

  • Higher technical education (MSc, BSc or equivalent). Relevant technical offshore experience may compensate for lack of formal education.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience within maintenance engineering experience in oil & gas, energy, or heavy industry, with proven discipline responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance strategies, reliability methods (RCM, FMEA), CMMS systems, and discipline-specific standards/regulations.
  • Thorough knowledge towards ERP /CMMS systems such as IFS, Maximo is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead discipline-specific maintenance activities, coordinate across departments, and provide technical guidance to operations/maintenance teams.
  • Good oral and written English skills are required.

  • Strong capability in root cause analysis, reliability engineering, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Skilled in scheduling, resource allocation, and balancing long-term reliability with short-term operational needs.
  • Ability to clearly convey technical information, influence decisions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Proactive in taking ownership of discipline-related issues, guiding teams, and ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient operations.
