Building relations with India’s energy sector
Odfjell Technology recently participated in an important initiative aimed at strengthening energy cooperation between Norway and India. We were honoured to be part of a Norwegian energy delegation that met with India’s Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, during his visit to Øygarden and Bergen.
The Minister was accompanied by Dr. Ranjit Rath, Chairman & Managing Director of Oil India Ltd., and Arun Kumar Singh, Chairman & CEO of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), reflecting India’s keen interest in exploring partnerships and technological collaboration within the energy sector.
Facilitated by the Norwegian Energy Partners (NORWEP), the delegation’s programme included site visits to key Norwegian energy projects that showcase the country’s capabilities in sustainable and low-carbon solutions. Among the projects visited were Northern Lights JV, a major initiative developing shared CO₂ transport and storage infrastructure, and the CCB Energy Blue Hydrogen Plant, where carbon capture is integrated into hydrogen production processes. These projects underscore how Norwegian expertise contributes to emissions reduction and supports global energy transition goals.
As part of the engagement, a dedicated session took place at CCB Ågotnes, where Norwegian companies presented their capabilities and discussed potential avenues for collaboration with the Indian delegation. Odfjell Technology was among the companies contributing to these discussions, sharing insights into how our technologies and experience help enable safe, efficient energy projects and support progress toward sustainable solutions across the industry.
Representing Odfjell Technology were Jonny Kristensen, VP Global Sales, and Vegard Sjursen, VP Business Development & Energy Transition. Also attending was Andrés Escalante from Odfjell Oceanwind, who briefly shared how offshore wind capabilities complement our broader contributions to the energy transition.
These conversations reflected a shared interest in strengthening ties and working together to advance the global energy landscape.
We look forward to continuing this dialogue and exploring new opportunities for cooperation between Norway and India, contributing to a more sustainable and innovative future for the energy sector.
