Dual-Casing Exit Achieved with RapTr-X™ Asymmetric Hydraulic Whipstock
Odfjell Technology has successfully executed a one-run dual-casing exit in Kuwait using its RapTr-X™ Asymmetric Hydraulic Whipstock. The operation demonstrated the company’s strong technical capabilities and focus on delivering precise and efficient well intervention solutions.
The project involved setting a hydraulic whipstock with a permanent packer inside a 9 5/8-inch casing and exiting through both the 9 5/8-inch and 13 3/8-inch casing strings. This complex operation had previously been unsuccessful for the client.
By deploying the RapTr-X™, Odfjell Technology’s team ensured that the mills stayed on track until the window was fully drilled. This design helped prevent early formation kick-off and allowed for a clean, controlled exit.
The results were outstanding:
- A one-run dual-casing exit with no stretch or polish trips required.
- Restoration of an abandoned well, bringing it back online.
- Significant cost savings by avoiding the need to drill a new well.
